Dressmaking - Bradford on Avon WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR? All abilities are welcome from age 18 upwards, just bring your current project and lots of enthusiasm. WHAT WILL THE WORKSHOP COVER? You have the time in these sessions to explore more in depth topics in a casual and friendly setting. Focusing on fit, we can cover anything from how to shorten a sleeve all the way to sewing a wedding dress! Our tutor will be on hand to discuss your project and future sewing goals. Here are some examples on how we can help further your sewing skills: + How to measure your body and pick a suitable size on a garment pattern + How to cut your pattern and fabric, making all the necessary markings to construct + How to finish your raw edges + How to confidently sew fastenings like zips and button/buttonholes. WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING: This will be all about your project. Our advice is always to sew a toile (practice) garment to check the fit. Toile's are traditionally made in cotton calico but you can also use cheap or unwanted woven cotton, such as a bed sheet. Please bring this with you on your first class. If you’re unsure, please send us an email to stitcheshuntingdon@gmail.com. You will need to bring with you: + A sewing project in full – pattern, fabric and all threads/trims. + A sewing machine, with its user manual, if you prefer to use your own. WORKSHOP EXTRAS INCLUDE: The supportive, friendly and knowledgeable tutor goes without saying but also available will be: + Use of an overlocker machine if required + Use of a sewing machine + An ironing board station. + Hot drinks and a sweet treat to keep you going throughout the day.
